Canoeing Rally - Wda 2007

We welcome all lovers of lowland canoeing in a new season. We propose a canoeing rally down the Wda, one of the most beautiful and clearest Polish rivers. The Wda is a left tributary of the Vistula and flows in the Southern Pomeranian Lake District across the Charzykowska Plain, Tucholskie Woods and Świecka Upland in the Pomeranian and Kujawy-Pomeraniam Provinces. It flows through many Kashubian lakes like Schodno, Radolne, Wdzydze (called the "Kashubian Sea") and in the lower course of the river through Żurksie and Gródek.

This beautiful, lowland and forest river winding its way through forests features numerous bays and its sand and stony bed is covered with seaweeds. There are over 350 smaller or bigger lakes in a close distance from the Wda, with an area of 120 thousand hectares, which is a genuine fishing paradise. To a large extent, the area is covered with woods, mainly pine-tree and spruce, with some deciduous trees. The environs are very little urbanized and almost desolate in the lower part.

Rare species of birds have subsisted here, ex. the black stork, cormorant, wood grouse or black grouse. In the vicinity of the Wda, along the entire route of the rally there are numerous natural reserves of fauna and flora and many valuable monuments of the Kashubian and Kociewo cultures.

Also, such parks as the Tucholski, Zaborsk, Wdecki Landscape Parks and the "Tucholskie Woods" National Park have been created here. The region is an attractive area for tourists to visit.

All the beauty of nature awaits you here!

See you on the route.
